If you would like to watch the video, I should mention that I'm really weird. I've always been, but listening to myself in this video...I'm even weirder than I thought. I'm just plain awkward. :D Sometimes I stutter and repeat myself, too.
Before I edited the little intro that I posted last week, I knew nothing about editing videos, so it took me a while to make this, and there are still many things I need to learn and figure out. It's been fun to try, though!

Hey, folks!
This month is Adopt-A-Cat Month and Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month, and last Thursday the 4th was Hug Your Cat Day [though Humble has to put up with hugs every day]. :D Today is Best Friends Day, and when I saw this page on the Best Friends' site [LOVE seeing all the pet pictures!], I was so moved and immediately printed out one of the signs so I could take some pictures with Humble. :o) I'm really camera-shy usually, but here's one that I think still shows how much I love this little guy...

The other sign they have that you can print says "I saved my Best Friend." I really think Humble saved me, though. We've gone through a lot together [I adopted him over ten and a half years ago!], and he's helped me through many tough times, more so than anyone else. I really wish I could give him what he's given me, though I think I'd always fall short. I don't think animals get the credit they deserve for how much they help and uplift us.
My blog's been quiet, but I've still been making things and learning a lot. :D I've wanted to create my own Humble portraits for quite a while but wasn't sure what medium to try. I wanted something that would allow me to get a really soft look to his fur but still let me add a good amount of detail where I wanted it. I decided to try pastel pencils, and I've found myself a new craft love...

I got myself a set of Conté pastel pencils, and I've loved drawing with them so much that I already got another brand of pastel pencils so I could have more colours to play around with [will talk/write more about these in an upcoming post!]. I love that you can smudge them to get a really soft look, smudge slightly for softened lines, and also draw with more detail if you like. They're so different from the other supplies I use in my crafting, so it's been really fun trying a medium that's new to me. I still love using my other colouring supplies, but drawing with these has woken me up from my regular crafting habits. :o)
I was so happy to find those two greens [to the right of Humble's portrait] in the Conté set! By blending those greens and adding a bit of brown for detail, I was able to capture Humble's eye colour quite closely. Hoo-hoo! The cat mug above my book there holds the other colours I'm using for Humble's portrait.
Since we're talking about Humble [my favourite subject], here's a scrapbook page I made back in April 2014...

I WISH I could take credit for that sentiment...but I can't. :D I don't know who came up with it originally, but if anyone knows, let me know! I first saw it on a sticker from BoBunny and later in a Graphic 45 collection and just thought, "Aw, I wish I came up with that!" If I ever saw it in rubber stamp form, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
The picture of us was taken eight years ago -- how time flies! I don't look or dress like that anymore, but the love is still the same. Actually stronger. :o)
Today I'm continuing with my Edgar's Mission week -- a kind of tribute, I guess you could say, to Edgar's Mission Farm Sanctuary, a place that has quickly come to mean so much to me. The card I made today was inspired by the lambs at the farm sanctuary! This video featuring Peter Pan the lamb gave me smile pain -- he's sure to make you smile, too! Just seeing his happy reactions to Pam Ahern's touch melts my heart. :o)

I was also moved by this blog post about Smudge, and animals like Charity, Alan Marshall, Bubbles and Babe, Berni, Tinker Bell [I believe that's Tinker Bell who appears in a part of the video above!], Lizzie, Lucky Phil, Peter Parker, Helen and Bea, Popeye, Olive Oyl, Brutus and Swee'Pea, Coco, Merlin, Dorothy, Tattslotto, Miles, Sunny, Phoebe, The Flintstones, Buttercup, The Andrew Sisters, Panda, The Rainbow Lambs... Really, every animal is an inspiration to me.

The lamb is from the same stamp set I used for Monday's card -- On The Farm from Stampendous. I just love those stamp images! I also love adding some hand-stitching to projects -- even if it's just a little, I think it adds a lot to a card. :o)

I love crafting with cardstock die-cuts, although I sometimes have trouble using up those tiny little die-cuts that come in a lot of packs. When I made this card, I wanted to push myself to use a bunch of the tiny ones! My photo doesn't show it that well, but I stamped the "a wave" in light blue ink, then in a darker blue ink -- I wanted to give it a sort of shadow effect. This little lady appeared in Handmade Cards.

Today I'm here to share another Lawn Fawn Lunar Lights project with you! This time I went with a card project that coordinates with the Chinese New Year treat bag from yesterday!

The front panel actually started off with three rows of lanterns, but I stamped the top row a little too high, so it looked a little funny. I tried to salvage the rest by trimming across the second row and attaching the panel to an embossed card base with dimensional adhesive [I like to call 'em "foams"]. :o) Originally, I was going to attach the three-rows-of-lanterns panel to a smooth, shimmery gold card base, but with the shorter panel, I thought it would be nice to emboss the card base...that way, the embossed pattern gets a bit of a 'spotlight', too. :o)
I stamped the little lanterns from Lunar Lights directly on the red cardstock panel and also onto cream cardstock. I coloured the cream cardstock lanterns, trimmed around them and attached them with dimensional adhesive/"foams". ;o) "Happy New Year" was spelled out with Jessie's ABCs. The embossing folder is a Cuttlebug folder that was included in an Asian-themed set [I love, love embossing folders!].
I just wanted to say a big, big *THANK YOU* for the kind words left on yesterday's post! It's so nice to 'meet' you guys through our love of craft. :o) I was asked how I made the treat bag from yesterday, so I'll put together a picture tutorial soon!

The latest issue of Paper Crafts magazine, the November/December 2010 issue, includes my first published card! I was inspired, of course, by the colours and flower in the challenge photo -- and also the cute wavy edges on the dishes! And there I go again with another shaped card! :o)
Before going to bed yesterday, I came across a challenge on Caardvarks to make a monochromatic card. Since they're featuring Core'dinations cardstock, I decided to use some of my green Core'dinations to make this card today:

Clean and simple. And I'm jazzed about it!
I really like "rumpling" scallops like that for added dimension. And while I don't normally do a whole lot of sanding, I really like the sanded Swiss Dots -- fun!
