Hey, folks!
Today we celebrate Humble's birthday!! :o) As a tradition, I like to include a handmade card and handmade little surprises with his gifts. This year, I made this for him...

I just love him! :o) I'm not sure if I should call him a box or a bag, so I'm calling him a box-bag. :D I could fit two small gifts in there! Here's another view of him...

I have him sitting on the bookshelf in our living room and keep smiling at the sight of him. :o) I wanted to make a video showing how to make this, but my hands aren't healed yet. The construction is not very difficult, though. I used a cute die set from Taylored Expressions called Sack It Kitty -- this die set gives you the details of the cat but not the body. Their Sack It sets are designed to be paired with their Sack It To You die, which makes a treat bag, but you're not limited to using them together. I don't have the Sack It To You die, so I just used a Sizzix die to create the body of the cat, and I cut four pieces [two for the front of the kitty and two for the back just to make the box-bag sturdier]. For the sides and bottom, I cut a strip of matching paper -- all it takes is a bit of measuring, scoring, a little more scoring and some little snips to create tabs for attaching the strip to the front and back pieces. Hopefully my hands will be normal-ish soon so I can make a video!
Here's the card I made for Humble this year...

I used lots of stickers and wanted to make his card fun and dimensional! :D The card base is actually a trifold card that was in a kit I bought. The heart lifts up, and then the polka dot part folds down.

I thought I would share a few more things that I made for Humble in the past! Here's a shaped card from another birthday...

For this card, I used my favourite embossing folder: Paw Print from Darice! Love that folder! The adorable kitties are stickers from American Crafts. :o)
Here's a card I made for one of our adoption anniversaries...

I found this super-cute 12x12 cat paper from Best Creation's Meow collection, and I cut part of the paper for the front of the card and decorated the inside of the card with other images from the paper. Since the little guy is taking a nap in his bed, I decided to make a 'dream bubble' using the Cloud Border die from Taylored Expressions. I used Thickers for the sentiment -- these are my favourite Thickers, so I bought three sets [the set's called 'Kitten', too!]. Same Thickers I used on this year's card for Humble! :D
Here's a Christmas card I made for him...

To make this, I used the same Sack It Kitty set that I used to make this year's box-bag! The hat is a printed die-cut, and I added some Flower Soft to it for texture. :D
I love making things for Humble...he means so much to me. :o) Happy birthday, Humble boy! I'm so happy you're in this world!
Hello, folks!
Stopping in to share some important tips I read on this post at The Animal Rescue Site! I have their list of 9 tips below, but please click on that link to read about their tips in more detail.
Halloween Pet Safety Tips
- Limit front door access. Strangers, costumes and loud noises can be very frightening to pets.
- Make sure your pet is wearing current ID tags. A glow-in-the-dark or reflective collar would also be very helpful, just in case your pet darts out an open door.
- Always supervise costumed pets.
- Do a costume 'dress rehearsal'. If you want to dress up your pet, only do so if you can tell that they don't mind, and take time to get them accustomed to the costume. Make sure the costume is SAFE, that it fits properly, and that it isn't annoying or uncomfortable to your pet. Make sure the costume doesn't have dangling pieces that could be chewed off and choked on.
- Keep things like pumpkins and corn out of your pet's reach.
- Keep ALL candy and wrappers out of your pet's reach. All forms of chocolate can be dangerous, and sometimes lethal, to pets. Foil wrappers can cause health problems, too, if ingested. Please move the trash bin to a safe height.
- Lock candy safely away from pets [not only during Halloween but also before and after]. If your kids like to stash candy in their rooms, make sure they pick high enough hiding places where pets can't reach the candy, or lock the candy in a cabinet. One of our canine pals, Lou, had a very serious incident with chocolate being left out at her house one Christmas, so please be careful to keep candy/chocolate away from your pet.
And now for a Halloween project, just in case you need a last-minute treat packaging idea...
:D
I thought it would be fun to make a Halloween project with the moose from Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Arctic! I used his coordinating sentiment stamp but just inked the "it moose be" part. I also selectively inked the "Halloween" on a stamp from Spooktacular. Thank you, Kelly, for the cute stamps! Give Daphne a hug for me! :D
To create his mask, I just trimmed a die-cut I had of a cat, punched a couple of small holes and threaded some linen thread through. I'm not sure if the moose looks creepy now, but I think he's fun anyway! :D Ha! To make the clothespin match the little enamel stars, I just covered it with purple washi tape!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a fun Halloween!!
Here today to share these mini projects I put together using some fun stuff I received from Kelly! I used paper from the Snow Day 6x6 paper pad and stamps from the Monster Mash and Critters in the Arctic stamp sets to make these little guys...

:o)
In yesterday's post, I showed part of a piece of paper from Snow Day -- that sheet has cute images that you can cut apart to make some fun tags. I used small tag dies to die-cut 3 of the designs. I wanted to decorate them with characters, but the characters needed to be small enough to fit on the tags. The little monsters from Monster Mash were just the right size, so I thought, "Why not have monsters on holiday projects?" :D To give two of the monsters their winter look, I used the little hat image from Critters in the Arctic! I stamped the hats first, then masked them off before stamping the monsters. Then there was a little fussy cutting and the ol' foam tape. Simple and fun to make! :o)
Oh! When I coloured in the monsters' mouths, I left a little uncoloured to give them teeth. You may have noticed that I gave the little guy on the left a little gap in his teeth. :o) Hee hee.
On another note, I have to say that I *love* chunky twine on miniature gift boxes. :D
Hope you got a smile here today!
I've got two projects to share today -- first up is this little treat bag...
:o)
Really fun to make!! I used stamps from the Love You S'more stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I like that you can add little faces or a tiny image from the set to the marshmallows! And those little faces are small enough to fit in tons of other stamps, so it'll be so easy to give inanimate objects some 'personality'. :D I heat embossed the sentiment and added some hand-stitching for a finishing touch!
Next up, a card...
:o)
Here I used stamps from Lawn Fawn's Hello Baby stamp set. At first, I thought this felt like an "I miss you" card, but then I thought it would be nice to make it a baby girl card with colours that might be a little unexpected for a baby girl. I love that little bunny -- I coloured her with grey and white Prismacolor pencils, then I added some grey Flower Soft to give her a fluffy tail! I wanted to create a sort of 'woven' look on the green grass, so I used the stamp of three dashed lines to create the pattern, but I purposely spaced each stamping unevenly and didn't have any of the horizontal stampings line up. I added a bit of hand-stitching for extra detail -- I'm hooked on adding hand-stitching to stuff!
Many thanks to Kelly and Mike from Lawn Fawn for the stampy goodness!
I had planned to share a third card today, but I want to do another theme week, and the card couldn't be a better fit for the theme! I'll be back to share it on Tuesday! :o)
Hello there!
Thank you for the super-nice comments about the Lawn Fawn announcement -- I'm genuinely moved! :o)
Today I'm sharing a project made with the new Lunar Lights stamp set that will be released on February 10th. This stamp set can be used for any occasion, but I chose to make a Chinese New Year project because -- this probably won't be surprising -- I'm Chinese. :o) And seriously, it ain't easy to find craft supplies that fit well with a Chinese New Year theme. Last year when I was making cards for this occasion, I could only find one sheet of China-themed stickers from K&Co. Ha! So this stamp set is pretty darn neat to have.
I bring you...
Chinese New Year Candy Treat Bag!
:o)
I used one of the larger lanterns and one of the sentiments from Lunar Lights, and I also used one of the flowers from Petite Florals to add a bit of detail to the lantern. I think I'll paper piece the larger lanterns in the near future because they're a great size for easy paper piecing! I die-cut the treat window with a Nestie Label Nine and punched the top flap with a Martha border punch.
This was quite fun to make, and I thought the general idea could also be used for upcoming Valentine's Day treats!

I love that little monster!! The monster, his fiery breath and the buildings are from My Cute Stamps' Eeek! A Monster! stamp set [funtastic!]. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Sophie's Sentiments stamp set [that stamp set gets a ton of use!].
And speaking of Lawn Fawn, I have a really fun announcement to make!
