Just a Note to Say Hello Card

Well, hi there!
Today I'm here to share a card that I made quite a while back.  If the date stamp on the picture is correct, I made this card about two years ago.  Whoa!

:o)
To make this, I used a rubber stamp from American Crafts, a bit of paper from Cosmo Cricket, and some ribbon I found in the discount bin at a craft store.

Hope you enjoyed your visit here today, and thanks for stopping by!

Pop Card

Hello there!
Here to share another card with you today...

:o)
I'm really happy with how this card turned out!  I was able to contribute it to Paper Crafts' May/June 2012 issue -- the 'Dressing Up Dad' feature.  I used a Spellbinders die, paper from October Afternoon, a bow tie embellishment from BasicGrey, and fun Thickers from American Crafts [really like the style of that particular alphabet set].
I find that I actually struggle more with making really feminine cards than with making masculine cards.  I think I'm okay with fun & cute feminine, but fancy/elegant feminine?  That's TOUGH for me.  This is not surprising considering how tomboyish I am.  Ba ha ha!  [That was a really unladylike 'ba ha ha' right there.]

I hope you enjoyed your visit here today -- I should be back on Sunday!

You're the Glue Card

Hello there!
I'm back again to share this card that I was able to contribute to Paper Crafts' March/April 2012 issue...

:o)
Quite fun to make this!  I used one of the Go-to Sketches from the issue for the layout.  The cute die-cuts are from Imaginisce, and the fitting sentiment is from Taylored Expressions!

Hope you got a smile here today, and I should be back tomorrow! :o)

Best Pals

Hello, folks!
Apparently, Best Friends Day was earlier this month.  I didn't read about it until a couple of days afterward, but really, every day is Best Friends Day here. :D  I did happen to buy a surprise for Humble a little before Best Friends Day!  I got him this plush tree stump that holds three plush, squeaky squirrels that he can take out and play with.  It's too cute!  It's actually a toy meant for dogs, but I thought Humble would like it. :D
When I went to the store to buy him this surprise, I met a super-sweet little dog named Briggs.  He let me pet him, and then he offered his paw for a paw/handshake.  How gentlemanly! :D  While his human mom was paying for his treats at the register, he sat on my foot while he waited.  Ha!  I almost keeled over from cute overload.

Since we're talking about best friends, here's a mini album I made that appeared in Paper Crafts' special issue, Stamp It! 3 Ways:

:o)
The patterned paper, embossed tag, twill ribbon, spiral binding and chunky eyelets are all from We R Memory Keepers.  The heart embellishment is from Pebbles, and the alphabet stamps are from Purple Onion Designs.  I coloured in the letters with Copic markers and then caaarefully cut them out.

Before I go, I'd like to share my current favourite book, Unlikely Friendships by Jennifer S. Holland.  I've been wanting to get this book for a while now and finally bought it recently...

Some of my favourite parts from the book are:

And, in a most remarkable moment, Tarra lifted one immense foot into the air and carefully rubbed the belly of her friend.
[from The Elephant and the Stray Dog]

"Their kinship was 100 percent real, worked out on their own terms.  Animals don't get enough credit for all they're capable of emotionally.  This bond really meant something.  It did something for Tonda both mentally and physically.  It saved her life."
[from The Orangutan and the Kitten]

Just around dusk, Finnegan would return to the house, scratch at the door, then nose-dive into the pack and roll around with the dogs.  "It was like he was telling them all about his adventures of the day."
[from The Papillon and the Squirrel]

There's also a bit of dog-deer mischief to report.  Despite Dillie's impaired vision, at Lady's bidding she'll grab bags of snacks from high shelves for the two to gobble down.
[from The Nearsighted Deer and the Poodle]

He doesn't discriminate between furred and feathered.  "I think he just wants to protect anything that's small and helpless.  Guinea pigs, rabbits, chicks, the pig, he just won't leave them alone.  Everyone gets kisses."
But the clearest bond is the one ever growing between dog and cat.  "They make me laugh so much," says Helen.  "Sometimes Sharky and Max sit in exactly the same position, one paw stretched out straight and the other crunched inward, like they're mocking each other."  And other times, she says, they sprawl out back to back by the pool, two friends just looking at the sky.
[from The Pit Bull, the Siamese Cat, and the Chicks]

"If only the dove had hands to hug him back."
[from The Macaque and the Dove, pictured on the cover]

Heartwarming. :o)
