Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month and Halloween Giveaways!

Hello, folks!
I'm back with a couple of giveaways!  I'm on a bit of a mission to get my craft supply stash down to "Not-So-Crazy", so I'll be doing these small giveaways every once in a while.

October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month, so the first giveaway is in honour of that!  I also wanted to mention that there will be a pet food drive at Petco stores across the US from October 28 to November 11!  They need lots of food and volunteers, so if this sounds like something you can help with, please click here for more info!  I heard about this pet food drive through an e.mail from Best Friends Animal Society, and the message in the e.mail said, "Give Local Pets a Full Tummy for the Holidays".  Doesn't that hit you in the heart?  Here is the prize I'm offering in honour of Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month:

The winner will receive 2 yards of awesome pleated ric rac trim [looks better than it appears in the photo!] and a "You're the Best" embellishment from Making Memories, a DIY Thickers set from American Crafts, a pack of Doodlebug gems, 2 embossed die-cuts from We R Memory Keepers, and best of all, 7 photo die-cuts of dogs from Paper House Productions!  It may sound terrible, but the only reason I'm offering those dog die-cuts is because I have multiples of them -- otherwise I'd be keeping them for myself! :D  If the little guy in the front looks kind of familiar, that's because I shared a card with him a while back. :o)  This prize pack will also include some pet-friendly colours of twine and ribbon!

A note about the DIY Thickers: It says that you can use glitter, microbeads and tinsel on them, but I have personally tried them with microbeads, and they are not sticky enough to hold the microbeads on.  They did hold some on at first, but the microbeads would brush off kind of easily.  Something lighter, like glitter, would probably be a better choice, although I don't have any loose glitter in my supply stash, so I can't do a test!  When I tried them with microbeads, I used my own DIY Thickers set -- the winner will get a new set!

And just because Halloween is fast-approaching, here is a Halloween prize pack I'm offering to a second winner:

The winner will receive 2 different types of Halloween twine [NOT the whole spools, but I'll give you 15 yards of each], a sheet of dimensional stickers from American Crafts, a pack of Doodlebug gems, and a little pile of Halloween die-cuts from K & Company [I bought one of those die-cut packs and used some, but there are quite a few left -- there are more than what the photo shows].  This prize pack will also include some glassine bags that you can decorate and make treat bags with if you wish!

Phew, this blog post is too long!  I'll keep the rest brief: Want to win?  Leave a comment by next Monday, October 15th before 5pm, and I'll pick 2 winners that evening!  If you have a preference between the prize packs, let me know in your comment!

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Well, you sure do love your pets! We personally don't own a dog but my niece does and she is a big, big lover! Those Halloween stickies sure look great too. Thanks for sharing your passion for the cutie pies. Will pop in after I'm done here.

Hi Humblechan...thanks for your great post reminding me of "Adopt-a-Pet" month...my two are both adopted and it is the best experience ever!!! Thanks for a chance to win one of your prize packages...you said to let you know if I have a preference...I would prefer the doggie one as I am a doggie person but either would be terrific!!!

This is so very nice of you! I love animals too ( we have two cats and one dog, all whom have been adopted from the SPCA yay! ), so at Christmas time our local Pet Smart does a little thing for various shelters... we also get our Dog's Santa picture taken there so that the money goes to the shelters, it's a win win! And thanks for the info. about the DIY Thickers because I had been eyeing some and I have microbeads that I wanted to try with them, but now I know... and btw my jaw about hit the floor when you mentioned that you don't have any loose glitter in your supply stash... I am obsessed with glitter (really just ask my husband if I could have that glitter carpeting that you so often see at Jewelers without looking terribly tacky I would do it in a heartbeat! )... so we must find a remedy for this and stat! Have a fabulous weekend!
Hugs!
Lisa

Oh Chan -- you are beyond generous! You already share your crafty talents and love of animals with us, and you continue to share your stash of awesome goodies. Thank you for your kindness in a world that can be so thoughtless.
Hope Humble is well and enjoying life!

So nice of you to share these prizes. We have a shelter pup and one of them in the pack of doggie goodies looks like him! Thanks for bringing awareness to these animals.

How very kind of you to offer these goodies to your followers! Our two fur babies (kitties) are both rescued. I'm sure they know how fortunate they are because they shower us with never ending purring...and lovely hairballs that glide down the hallway!

What a generous person you are! I like other people's dogs, but wouldn't want one of my own. So I guess I won't be helping a shelter puppy. :( Again thanks for sharing!

Chan you are so generous! I would love the doggy pack! My Pekingese was going to be murdered (aka 'put to sleep') at age 3 by her previous owners because they moved into a housing complex that didn't allow dogs. Then by a quirk of fate she became mine and is the love of my life! It's been 11 years ^_^

So sweet of you to offer up giveaways Chan :) It's just me and Rosie now, but all of my animals (dog and cats) have either been adopted from shelters or rescued from that fate. I just wanted to pop in with a comment, but no need to enter me in the giveaways. Purrs to Humble from Rosie! :)

Thank you for your generosity. Of course I love your creations and your cute style but one of the things I love most from your blog and you is that you are an animal lover and you are always supporting good causes for Animal rescuing organizations. That really fill my heart with joy. Thank you so much for all your efforts! I've had to say godbye to one of my dogs two weeks ago and it's being so hard, my other dog was so so depressed that on Friday we went and adopt a mate for him. Both are happy now so it's a happy ending after all :)
