One Off the Ol' Bucket List!

Hello there!
I'm very happy to say today that I can cross one more thing off my bucket list...

One of my cards landed on the cover! :o)
WOO-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

This is Paper Crafts magazine's March/April 2011 issue [
Image courtesy of Paper Crafts magazine, of course!] -- I haven't seen the issue in-person yet, but I'm so excited for the day it arrives in the mail!!

Here's a closer look at my card...

:o)
*Jazz hands!*
What the picture doesn't really show is that the cloud paper is shimmery!

It's a little difficult to see in the picture, but the patterned balloons were attached over the white cardstock ones with dimensional adhesive.  Also, the largest hot air balloon was attached to the card with two layers of dimensional adhesive [as opposed to the single layer for the other two] just to vary the dimension a little!

Thanks for stopping by today!! :o)

A Little Message For You Card

Hello there!
No freshly-crafted stuff to share today, but here's a card I made last June that I haven't shared yet -- this one features Lawn Fawn's super-fun Just My Type stamp set!

:o)
I submitted this card to a couple of publication calls but it wasn't chosen.  I really dig this card, though, and I just chalk it up to "win some, lose some". :o)

The patterned papers are from October Afternoon, and so are the stickers along the left side.  I used some chipboard buttons that I had in my stash to create a fun background for the typewriter [isn't that typewriter stamp awesome?].

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you're having a crafty week so far!

Hello, Lunar Lights!

Hello there!
To celebrate the arrival of the Lunar Lights stamp set in the Lawn Fawn store, I made this CAS card!

:o)
I covered the lanterns with Stickles in Frosted Lace.  The foldover piece along the top was punched with an EK Success border punch.  The daylight was fading fast by the time I finished this card [the unedited picture is really dark], so I took the picture before the Stickles even dried.  Ha!  That's why the coating of Stickles looks kind of thick there.  I used a sentiment from the How Delightful stamp set -- this sentiment reminds me of a certain four-legged pal. :o)  Using Lunar Lights with How Delightful opens up even more options!

Lawn Fawn Sneak Peek #2: Lunar Lights!

Hello, folks!
Today I'm here to share another Lawn Fawn Lunar Lights project with you!  This time I went with a card project that coordinates with the Chinese New Year treat bag from yesterday!

:o)
The front panel actually started off with three rows of lanterns, but I stamped the top row a little too high, so it looked a little funny.  I tried to salvage the rest by trimming across the second row and attaching the panel to an embossed card base with dimensional adhesive [I like to call 'em "foams"]. :o)  Originally, I was going to attach the three-rows-of-lanterns panel to a smooth, shimmery gold card base, but with the shorter panel, I thought it would be nice to emboss the card base...that way, the embossed pattern gets a bit of a 'spotlight', too. :o)

I stamped the little lanterns from Lunar Lights directly on the red cardstock panel and also onto cream cardstock.  I coloured the cream cardstock lanterns, trimmed around them and attached them with dimensional adhesive/"foams". ;o)  "Happy New Year" was spelled out with Jessie's ABCs The embossing folder is a Cuttlebug folder that was included in an Asian-themed set [I love, love embossing folders!].

I just wanted to say a big, big *THANK YOU* for the kind words left on yesterday's post!  It's so nice to 'meet' you guys through our love of craft. :o)  I was asked how I made the treat bag from yesterday, so I'll put together a picture tutorial soon!

Lawn Fawn Sneak Peek #1: Lunar Lights!

Hello there!
Thank you for the super-nice comments about the Lawn Fawn announcement -- I'm genuinely moved! :o)

Today I'm sharing a project made with the new Lunar Lights stamp set that will be released on February 10th.  This stamp set can be used for any occasion, but I chose to make a Chinese New Year project because -- this probably won't be surprising -- I'm Chinese. :o)  And seriously, it ain't easy to find craft supplies that fit well with a Chinese New Year theme.  Last year when I was making cards for this occasion, I could only find one sheet of China-themed stickers from K&Co.  Ha!  So this stamp set is pretty darn neat to have.

I bring you...
Chinese New Year Candy Treat Bag!

:o)
I used one of the larger lanterns and one of the sentiments from Lunar Lights, and I also used one of the flowers from Petite Florals to add a bit of detail to the lantern.  I think I'll paper piece the larger lanterns in the near future because they're a great size for easy paper piecing!  I die-cut the treat window with a Nestie Label Nine and punched the top flap with a Martha border punch.

This was quite fun to make, and I thought the general idea could also be used for upcoming Valentine's Day treats!

Stamp It! Techniques and a Fun Announcement!

Hello there!
You may have seen Paper Crafts' super-fun Stamp It! Techniques issue out on newsstands!  I wish I had made more things to submit to this issue, but I just couldn't get my act together at the time.  Ha!  I was, however, really overjoyed when they accepted this here project because it's one of my fave submissions!  I present to you...
Birthday Monster Box [formerly known as Ferocious Monster Gift Box]!

:o)
I love that little monster!!  The monster, his fiery breath and the buildings are from My Cute Stamps' Eeek! A Monster! stamp set [funtastic!].  The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Sophie's Sentiments stamp set [that stamp set gets a ton of use!].

And speaking of Lawn Fawn, I have a really fun announcement to make!

Kelly invited me to join the Lawn Fawn design team.

AAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!

How crazy is that?!  I'm a little nervous but also over the moon -- it's still kind of unreal to me.  And I'm not the only new team member!  The card making super-talent Julie Campbell is joining the team, too!  Woo-Hooooo!!!

Check out the Lawn Fawn blog today for a sneak peek at the new stamp set to be released on February 10th, and tomorrow we'll be sharing projects made with this new stamp set!!
